The final event of the "Save The Ocean Project" was held in Tropea, at the "Sala Verde" conference room and in the main square, Piazza Vittorio Veneto, where we set up a booth.
We chose Tropea as the venue for our event because we felt it could give us a way to reach a larger number of people in order to involve them in our goals: indeed, this was the case. We received a very positive response from both the local population and the tourists who flock to the Calabrian town during the summer months. This allowed us to have a positive exchange with a diverse audience, which was very attentive to the issue and curious about our project. The event was supported by the municipality of Tropea and we had as guest expert speakers (experts on youth work and environmental issues, in particular - ocean conservation), artisits and local NGOs such as Plastic Free, Legambiente, Caretta Calabria Conservation. In addition, two of the volunteers who have taken part in some of our project mobilities spoke about their direct experience.
Specifically, the event was organized in two stages and in two different spaces, partly at the same time:
1) conference, presentation of results, discussion and exchange with personalities engaged in the project theme, volunteers from different local associations, speeches of people who participated in our activities
2) project presentation booth in the main town square, with games and photo area. The booth was intended as an informal awareness-raising space with various information regarding our project, goals, achievements and those we aim to achieve in the long term. In addition, we gave the audience a chance to "play" with the app that was created for the project with a chance to win one of the T-shirts with the project logo: this was a gimmick to engage people even more and entice them to get closer to our project.
